Ain’t Life Grand Investments partners with Project Team Taylor to Raise Funds & Awareness for Pediatric Cancer Research & Treatment

Project Team Taylor was created to raise funds and awareness for Pediatric Cancer Research & Treatment. Taylor was diagnosed with a Wilms’ Tumor on April 27th, 2015 and is receiving treatment at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham, AL.

Taylor’s parents, Cliff and Allison, are owners of Mugshots Grill and Bar – Tuscaloosa, Al. Cliff Rayburn has been with Mugshots Grill & Bar for over a decade across all the ALG brands. Ain’t Life Grand Investments is looking forward to rallying around this family.

Taylor’s 6th birthday is June 11, 2015. Ain’t Life Grand Investments will be donating 25% of total sales on Thursday, June 11 from 13 of it’s participating restaurants including the brands: Mugshots Grill & Bar, Glory Bound Gyro Co., and Topher’s Rock ‘N Roll Grill to Children’s Hospital and Camp Smile-A-Mile. Please dine with us at our participation restaurants on June 11, 2015 to raise funds for these great organizations. We have locations in Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.

Glory Bound Gyro Company Holds Ground Breaking Ceremony For New Location in Covington, LA

Glory Bound Gyro Company announces the ground breaking for the 2015 opening in Covington, LA. McMath Construction of Mandeville, LA broke ground yesterday with plans to open in the spring of 2015.

“It’s an exciting time for the Glory Bound brand and family,” said Glory Bound Owner, Will Taylor. “We’re extremely excited about bringing the Glory Bound brand to Covington and becoming part of the Northshore community. Next year will be all about growth for Glory Bound and we are excited to open 2 new locations in 2015.” Taylor also stated.

Glory Bound hosted their groundbreaking ceremony yesterday Wednesday, December 10th at 11:00 A.M. to announce the new Northshore location and the plans for the 2015 opening.
“The opening of our Glory Bound restaurant will establish the second concept from Ain’t Life Grand Investments here on the Northshore, which means a lot to me since Covington is my hometown. I couldn’t be happier about sharing this unique, wonderful concept with the local community of Covington.” said Glory Bound Owner, Chris McDonald.

Glory Bound will also be announcing an ‘Eat Good, Give Back’ fundraising event with the company’s nonprofit group Making Life Grand. That event will be held prior to opening day.

Glory Bound Gyro Co. To Open in TuscaloosaChris McDonald and Will Taylor are proud to announce that Glory Bound Gyro Co. will open its second location in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on July 17 next door to Mugshots Grill and Bar on the corner of University Blvd and Greensboro Ave.

“We are beyond excited about opening our second location of Glory Bound Gyro Co. in Tuscaloosa,” Taylor said. “The one in Hattiesburg is a local favorite and we can’t wait for Tuscaloosa to experience the good food and good times Glory Bound Gyro Co. has to offer.”

Formerly known as Old Athens Grill, Glory Bound Gyro Company will offer Greek-inspired dishes with an American twist, including appetizers, salads, pasta, desserts, and of course, gyros, served a variety of ways. Going above and beyond the traditional, customers can choose from delicious gyros such as the surf and turf, with flavorful grilled shrimp and savory marinated steak with sautéed onions and peppers, or the pepper jack gyro, with rotisserie seared beef and lamb topped with pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, and come-back sauce wrapped in lettuce and onions.

“Our food is not something you can get anywhere you go,” McDonald said. “We do offer some dishes found at traditional Greek restaurants, such as hummus appetizers, Mediterranean dishes, Greek salads, and the original gyro, but we put our own touch on the menu, putting together delicious combinations with our secret sauces that you won’t find at any authentic Greek establishments.”

In addition to the delicious food, Glory Bound Gyro Co. will offer an energetic, lively atmosphere that is fun for all ages. The two-story restaurant will offer a full bar, live music on the weekends, and specials daily. It will be the perfect spot to have a birthday party or company dinner, and tables will be available for reservation upon request.

Ain’t Life Grand Investments, the holding company for Glory Bound Gyro Co., Topher’s Rock ‘n Roll Grill, and Mugshots Grill and Bar., has seen tremendous success with the Mugshots in Tuscaloosa, and has high hopes that Glory Bound Gyro Co. will do just as well.

Old Athens Grill Is Now “Glory Bound”

Chris McDonald and Will Taylor, the owners of Hattiesburg’s Old Athens Grill, are proud to announce that Old Athens will be changing their name to Glory Bound Gyro Co. and opening their second location in Tuscaloosa, Ala., this summer.

“We felt like our Old Athens concept was ready to expand but we kept running into one issue, the Old Athens name,” Taylor said. “We couldn’t get the name copyrighted for a restaurant because the words ‘Athens Grill’ are already widely used in restaurants across the United States.”

McDonald added that they realized the name Old Athens gave the impression that they were “Authentic Greek” – but the food and atmosphere is anything but. “The menu at Old Athens is Greek-inspired, but focused more on offering Greek /American staples with a unique twist,” he said.

The new name of the concept will be Glory Bound Gyro Co. and was inspired by a close friend and regular known affectionately as Mr. John. One day while enjoying a Pepper Jack gyro, a favorite on the Old Athens menu, Mr. John proclaimed, “This Pepper Jack Gyro is glory bound!” McDonald and Taylor couldn’t agree more.

“That phrase has always stuck with us over the years,” Taylor said. “We found ourselves calling the gyros ‘Glory Bound’ while cooking in the kitchen or joking with employees, so when it came to renaming the restaurant, we realized it was the perfect fit.”

“Our thought was that as Old Athens continues to grow, our name should reflect that growth,” Taylor said. “We have big plans for the future of this concept, and like Mr. John said, our gyros are glory bound.”

Old Athens patrons, worry not: Glory Bound Gyro Co. will offer the same melt-in-your-mouth appetizers, hummus, gyros, salads, desserts and more of the same “good-time” atmosphere, only under a new name.

Adapting to change and growing their concepts is nothing new to Ain’t Life Grand Investments, the holding company for Glory Bound Gyro Co., Topher’s Rock ‘n Roll Grill, and Mugshots Grill and Bar.

“In the restaurant business you can never stop improving; from the name of the restaurant to the daily specials, you must always be evolving for the better. I feel like we have accomplished this with the name change and our new logo,” McDonald said.
Glory Bound Gyro Co. plans to follow in Mugshots’ footsteps in terms of opening new company-owned locations and franchised stores throughout the southeast.

“Over the last few years, we took the original concept of a Greek-inspired Grill and Bar and let it evolve,” McDonald said. “Glory Bound Gyro Co. plans to make its gyros as famous as Mugshots’ burgers.”
